Mirascans

Privacy Policy

Last updated 30 September 2026.

This page explains what Mirascans collects when you use the site, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can: there are no reader accounts, no advertising and no analytics or tracking scripts.

Reading the site

You can read without signing in or telling us anything. Your bookmarks, reading history, where you stopped in a chapter and your choice of light or dark mode are saved in your own browser, not on our servers. You can clear them from the Bookmarks page or by clearing your browser’s data for this site.

To show which series are popular, your browser tells us which chapter you opened once it is on screen. We add one to that series’ total for the day and store nothing else: no cookies, IP address or account details. Search engine crawlers, link previews and site staff are not counted.

Comments

When you comment, we store your comment, the name it is posted under, when you posted it, your IP address and your browser’s user agent (a short description of your browser and device). The IP address and user agent help us stop spam and abuse and are never shown. Comments are public once approved; comments waiting for approval are seen only by site staff.

  • If you sign in with Discord, Discord tells us your Discord user ID, username, display name and avatar, and your comments show your display name, username and avatar. We never receive your email address or password, and we keep no access to your Discord account: we use the access Discord grants once, to learn who you are, and hand it back straight away. Discord’s privacy policy covers what Discord does.
  • If you comment with a name and email, your email address is never shown. You can choose to have your browser remember your name and email for next time.

Cookies and browser storage

  • Discord sign-in: ys_discord and ys_discord_user keep you signed in for comments for 30 days, and signing out removes them. ys_discord_state lasts ten minutes while you sign in, to protect the sign-in from forgery.
  • Comment details: if you tick the box when commenting with a name and email, WordPress remembers them in cookies for about a year.
  • Staff: the people who run the site use WordPress’s login cookies.
  • Browser storage: your bookmarks, reading history and light or dark mode, as described above.

We use no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.

Other services

  • Images are stored with Cloudflare and delivered through its network, which handles your IP address to do so.
  • Discord avatars next to comments load from Discord’s servers, which see your IP address. We don’t tell Discord which page you were on.
  • Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.

How long we keep it

Comments and the details stored with them stay until the comment is deleted. Daily read totals for each series are kept to rank popular series. Anything saved in your browser stays until you remove it.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, including your comments. Email [email protected] with the email address you commented with or, if you signed in with Discord, your Discord username. We will reply within a month. Depending on where you live, you may also be able to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Mirascans is not meant for children under 13, and Discord requires its users to be at least 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the date at the top.
